During this casual discussion, Amir Abolfathi, co-founder and CEO of uLab, discovered that orthodontists were fabricating aligners in their clinics, not for the cost savings, but to have complete control over the care delivery process. This commitment and passion impressed Abolfathi, who quickly teamed up with Charlie Wen, co-founder, CTO, and President of uLab. They realized that with the advances in technology since the first aligner system came to market in 1999, they could streamline the treatment planning process while putting the orthodontist back in control. The result: uLab’s treatment planning and clear aligner system— designed to be significantly more advanced than other aligner systems.

The plan allows them to complete their plan in as few as 10 minutes. Since the orthodontist controls the software, there’s no more back-and-forth with a remote dental technology.
